Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov reported the results of the fifteenth joint meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation. The corresponding report was presented during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Saturday, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.
At the meeting, issues of partnership in the trade and economic sphere, oil and gas and chemical industries, as well as in the field of “green” energy were discussed. The Turkmen side proposed to establish consultations on joint lending for the implementation of decarbonization projects, to attract Japanese companies to export goods produced in Turkmenistan, and to study Japan’s experience in “green” and hydrogen energy.
In addition, interaction in the transport and communications sector, construction and electric power industry was discussed. Turkmenistan proposed creating a working group to transfer the gas turbine power plant in Lebap velayat to a combined format and organize a presentation of Japanese companies producing advanced equipment for water management.
Following the meeting, a Protocol and seven documents were signed confirming readiness to work together.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of developing partnership with Japan and instructed to continue work to deepen trade, economic and investment cooperation.
