Japan’s Ishiba prepares for first meeting with Biden, Xi


TOKYO — Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is preparing to meet with US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time since taking office on the sidelines of key international gatherings this month.

Ishiba is expected to be reelected prime minister at a special parliamentary session that convenes on Nov. 11. Following the vote, he plans to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit starting Nov. 15 in Peru, and the Group of 20 summit starting Nov. 18 in Brazil.
