TOKYO — Japan’s government is discussing a new target for greenhouse gas emissions that would aim for a 60% reduction from fiscal 2013 levels by fiscal 2035, Nikkei has learned, an effort that will require faster adoption of renewable energy.

Japan’s current goal is a 46% reduction from fiscal 2013 by fiscal 2030.
