Greece to halt new private lodging permits in central Athens, raise taxes and offer financial incentives for switching to long-term rentals

According to Reuters, on September 16, 2024, the Greek government will suspend new permits for private lodgings in three central Athens districts for at least a year. It will also raise taxes on short-term rentals and consider offering some sort of financial incentive to homeowners who switch to long-term rentals.
