Shibuya and Shinjuku wards strengthen ban on street drinking during Halloween, “Strong measures are needed to prevent overtourism”



Ahead of Halloween at the end of October, Mayor Ken Hasebe of Tokyo’s Shibuya Ward and Mayor Kenichi Yoshizumi of Shinjuku Ward have jointly appealed to visitors to “please abide by the rules.” Drinking on the street will be prohibited in Shibuya Ward for the year starting from October 1st. Shinjuku Ward will be prohibited from 5pm on October 31st to 5am on November 1st.
